TREATMENT OF SKIN CANCER AND ACTINIC KERATOSES
Skin damage from the sun is extremely common in the form of skin cancers and a precancerous condition called actinic keratosis. At Gateway we offer treatment for individual cancer and precancerous spots. We also offer a comprehensive treatment called laser resurfacing to remove all of the facial precancerous spots in a single treatment. This can be life saving for patients with severe skin damage, precancerous and cancerous spots. This treatment will greatly reduce the risk of future actinic keratoses and skin cancers. We also offer routine full-body skin examinations to screen for potential skin cancer, as well as laser resurfacing to clear the skin of precancerous lesions caused by too much sun, thereby greatly reducing the risk of future skin cancers.
Rhinophyma (swollen bulbous nose) is cause by inflammation from conditions like rosacea with a progressive obstruction of the oil glands in the nose resulting in swelling and an increasing size and irregularity of the nose, especially the lower part of the nose near the tip. Lasers are used to remove the swollen tissue and re-shape the nose to a more normal appearance.
Becker’s nevus is a condition where a patch of pigmented skin appears, often in later childhood and early adulthood. The patch is often located on the trunk and is also often associated with excess hair growth within the pigmented patch of skin. These pigmented hairy patches can be improved with multiple laser treatments.
Acne Rosacea is an inflammatory condition usually located on the mid face and nose that causes redness, inflamed bumps and a flushing appearance to the skin. This can be treated and greatly improved by our board certified dermatologists with medications and lasers.
