FILLERS & THREADS

About Fillers and Threads

Soft tissue fillers can restore youthful contours and add harmony and volume to your face. FDA approved filler products are injected into the skin to fill facial wrinkles, folds, and scars; and can be used to treat lips, hollow tear troughs, temples, forehead, eyebrows, cheeks, chin, laugh lines, and even hands. Preferred modern fillers include Restylane (Lyft, Defyne, Refyne), Radiesse, Juvederm (Ultra, Ultra Plus, Vollure, Volbella, & Voluma), Belotero, and Silikon 1000.

Here at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute we also offer Sculptra.

How is Sculptra different from other fillers? Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable poly-L-lactic acid that works gradually to give you subtle yet noticeable results that can last up to 2 years.

Sculptra Aesthetic is different in the way it works. By targeting the underlying causes of the signs of facial aging, it gradually and subtly corrects shallow to deep nasolabial folds (smile lines), contour deficiencies, and other facial wrinkles by replacing collagen lost during the aging process. This can give you a refined, more youthful-looking appearance.

About Flexile Classic

Threads

Nonsurgical thread lifts can be performed with absorbable sutures that impressively lift the face and neck. Threads help to tighten the skin as well as promote collagen production. This will enhance your skin texture, result in fewer line lines, and create more elasticity and strength in the skin. Depending on the sutures used, results will last from 3 months to over one year.

Questions? We can help!

What is soft tissue augmentation?

Soft tissue lip augmentation is a procedure used to instantly enhance your appearance, without down time, by augmenting the lips to give them a fuller, more youthful appearance. Soft tissue fillers are also used to fill in depressed facial wrinkles. To learn more, please view our web page and fact sheet on fillers and volumizing.

What are the best products for soft tissue lip augmentation?

Preferred modern fillers include Restylane (Lyft, Silk, Defyne, Refyne), Radiesse, Juvederm, Belotero, Volbella, Sculptra and Silikon 1000*. These products are extremely safe and predictable for use as fillers in the skin. We have safely treated thousands of patients with these products with no serious side effects. *Silikon 1000 is FDA approved for the eyes, but is also used extensively throughout the United States as an off-label product for permanent soft tissue augmentation.

What areas can be treated with soft tissue augmentation?

The most popular uses of soft tissue fillers are lip augmentation and the treatment of facial wrinkles. Other treatable areas include hollow cheeks, depressed tear troughs under the eyes, deep and superficial facial lines, depressed scars, skin folds, frown lines, and crow’s feet..

How long does the treatment take?

Stunning results can be obtained in 30 minutes or less.

Are the products used safe?

Restylane (Lyft, Silk, Defyne, Refyne), Radiesse, Juvederm, Belotero, Volbella, Sculptra and Silikon 1000 have been used safely in thousands of patients in our clinic and in millions of patients worldwide.

What are the most common risks with soft tissue fillers & lip augmentation?

The most common side effects are minor bruising and swelling. These can typically be prevented by applying pressure and ice for a few minutes following the treatment.

Is soft tissue augmentation painful?

At the Gateway Aesthetic Institute & Laser Center, we use a combination of topical anesthetic cream and local anesthesia to eliminate nearly all discomfort.

Will I need to take time off work to have treatment?

No. Treatments using small needles, pressure and skin cooling make it rare for a patient to be unable to immediately return to work or social situations. Any minor swelling and bruising is easily covered with makeup and not generally noticeable to others.

Can any physician or nurse do soft tissue augmentation treatments?

Anyone can buy paint, but not everyone is an artist. Artistic skill combined with good medical and cosmetic judgment is the key to a great cosmetic result. Although it may be legal for a physician or a nurse to perform the treatments, a broad range of experience and knowledge of all cosmetic procedures, including soft tissue lip augmentation, will assure the best results for you. What is volume loss?

As we age, it’s common to lose fat in many areas of the face and hands, causing the skin to appear hollow and flat. Hollow cheeks, deep laugh lines and circles under the eyes are common results of facial volume loss. Thin-skinnned, bony looking hands are the result of volume loss in the hands. Fillers and volumizing can help restore youthful contours to your face and more, all in one or two visits

What can be done to correct this volume loss?

In the last few years, safe and effective facial fillers have been developed to allow instant correction of facial volume loss. These include: Restylane (Lyft, Silk, Defyne, Refyne), Juvederm, Sculptra, Radiesse, Belotero, Volbella and Voluma.

How is the treatment performed?

Volume correction is an in-and-out clinical treatment. Topical numbing cream is applied to the areas in need of volumizing; local anesthetic may also be added to the fillers. Most patients experience only mild discomfort. Fillers are injected into the areas of volume loss giving immediate improvement! Pressure and ice may be applied for a few minutes to decrease the risk of bruising or swelling. Makeup can be applied immediately after treatment.
