Breast Lift (Mastopexy) at the Gateway Aesthetic Institute

With a Breast Lift from Salt Lake City Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Heidi, You Can Have a Shapelier Figure

A breast lift procedure is also known as a mastopexy. Women often experience sagging of the breasts following pregnancy, weight loss, or simply the passage of time. The breasts can begin to droop and look aged. The effects of gravity and tissue stretching lead to a disproportion between the amount of skin (excess) and the amount of breast gland (deficiency). In severe forms, the nipple points downward, rather than forward.

During this plastic surgery procedure, the excess breast skin is removed, the nipple raised and the breast tissue is tightened giving the breasts a more youthful and firm appearance. The reshaped breast will be swollen after this cosmetic surgery procedure for approximately 2 to 4 weeks. The shape will continue to improve over the next few months. Scars will vary depending on the amount of lift that is required, and will fade over a one-year period.

A breast lift can also decrease the size of the pigmented area around the nipple known as the areola. If the volume of breast tissue has decreased, as often occurs after breast-feeding, then a breast implant can be placed at the time of the breast lift to make the breasts appear larger and firmer.
